By calling for Presidential elections prior to attempting to solve the Anglophone conflict especially at this stage of the war, President Biya and his inner circle have now finally showed the world that they tacitly support the Anglophone fight for restoration.

They have shown the world that they would rather negotiate for restoration than federation. They have shown the world that they would rather be in charge of Francophone Cameroun (and have full control of state and economic structures) than redistribute power in a federal system. The Cameroun government has now confirmed that what they fear MOST is a Federal Government where regional governors are elected as the election of governors will completely change the power dynamics in the country.

If anyone was not aware of the government’s true goals, today it is clear: POWER AT ALL COST. And because of this quest to remain in control, they have accepted that Anglophone restoration will become a reality.

The government is quite aware that these elections, which will occur only in the 8 Francophone regions, will be the most bloody in history and will serve to prepare Francophones for the independence of Anglophones. This government has decided that it would rather amputate its leg than share power and save the country.

Prepare yourselves: the future ahead will be very difficult. Expect the war to drastically escalate.
