Cameroon: The Fomunyoh Foundation brings relief to Bamenda Central Prison Inmates

The Fomunyoh Foundation, TFF, a non-profit organization founded by Dr Christopher Fomunyoh has brought assistance to inmates in the Bamenda Central Prison located in the chief town of the North West with food and non-food items to assist them.

The donation made recently was done by the team in Bamenda in partnership with Vision for Life while another donation was being carried out in Idenau, Limbe, South West Region according to TFF members.

This is not the first time this year that the Fomunyoh Foundation is reaching out to the less privileged in society. The Fomunyoh Foundation has reached out to internally displaced persons in Kumba, carried out donations in orphanages across Buea and Limbe amongst others.

Asked if they know about Dr Christopher Fomunyoh, one of the inmates named Ndi said he “knows him as a member of the American organization – National Democratic Institute (NDI). I also know him as a philanthropist as with what I am seeing. He has not only to touch us at the Bamenda Central Prison with his humanitarian outreach programmes.”

The inmates through the spokesperson went further to appreciate the gesture done by Dr Christopher Fomunyoh through his foundation and encouraged him to continue helping others in need.

Dr Christopher Fomunyoh, who founded the Fomunyoh Foundation twenty-two years ago in Bamenda, has continued to help Cameroonians across the board. This help has greatly been stepped up with the ongoing crisis in the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon currently facing violence with many now internally displaced and others have lost their source of livelihoods.

The support to humanitarian causes and democratisation in Cameroon and across the African continent is indelible with many less privileged persons, orphans, and widows who have all benefited from him and his Foundation’s donations.

The adjunct professor of African politics and government at Georgetown University is one of the few personalities who continue to call for an end to the ongoing violence in the country. On numerous outings, he has stated that the violence in Cameroon has not improved.
